Tommy Dorsey And His Orchestra Featuring Jimmy Dorsey Playing At The Rancho Don Carlos Nightclub At 650 Pembina Highway From September 20 -25, 1953, During A Short Trip To Canada By Band Bus. On September 21st The Dorseys Played Exclusively Forthe Royal Winnipeg Ballet Supper Dance At The Rancho Don Carlos. The Brothers Had Their Own Bands For 18 Years. Then Jimmy Dorsey'S Band Disbanded. In April 1953, Tommy Dorsey Asked His Older Brother Jimmy To Join His Orchestra And The Tag Line Became "Tommy Dorsey And His Orchestra Featuring Jimmy Dorsey". The Don Carlos Nightclub Was In Competition With 2 Other Pembina Highway Nightclubs, The Highwayman And Jack'S Place. The Bandstand At The Rancho Was Made Considerably Larger To Accommodate Dorsey'S 16 Piece Band. Don Carlos Owned By Charlie Mazzone (Who Was A Native Of Messia, Sicily, Came To Canada Prior To Ww I And Served In The Rcaf. Members Of The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra (L- R): Saxes: Baritone, Teddy Lee; Second Alto, Joe Pamelio; Lead Alto, "Red" Press, Second Tenor, Allan Feldman. Trombones: Bass Trombone, Sam Hyster; Second Trombone, "Tak" Takvorian; First Trombone, Jimmy Henderson. Trumpets: Paul Cohen And Daryl "Flea" Campbell. Four Soloists: Tommy Dorsey, Trombone Soloist And Leader; "Buzz" Brauner, Tenor Sax Soloist; Jimmy Dorsey, Clarinet And Alto Sax Soloist, And Co-Leader.
